How to collect feedback from TestFlight beta testers

TestFlight’s built-in feedback gives you a screenshot and a comment. Here is how to get reports you can act on, and reply to testers inside your app.

TestFlight lets testers send a screenshot with a comment, and you read it in App Store Connect. It works, but you rarely learn what the tester expected, you can’t ask them anything, and nothing comes from people who downloaded the App Store version.

What TestFlight feedback gives you

  • A screenshot and a short comment.
  • The device, iOS version and build.
  • No way to reply or ask a question.
  • Nothing from App Store users.

What you actually need

  • What they did and what they expected, not just what they saw.
  • The screen it happened on.
  • A way to ask when something is unclear.
  • A way to tell them it’s fixed, so they keep testing.

Add in-app feedback

An in-app feedback tool runs in the same builds as TestFlight. Testers already take screenshots when something is wrong, so offering “Report a problem?” right after a screenshot turns that habit into a report.

With Bopmigo, the report arrives with the screen, the build and the device. If the tester left out something important, they get one short follow-up question while they are still looking at the problem. When you reply, they see The team replied the next time they open the app.

Setup

Add the Swift package and one line of code. Follow the iPhone quick start. App Store users aren’t interrupted unless you choose to show it to them.
