How to group similar feature requests

Customers ask for the same thing in different words. Group requests by the underlying need so you can see what people want most.

Short answer: group requests by the need behind them, not the feature named. “Show prices in pounds”, “let me pay in Danish kroner” and “I always convert from euros” are one need: pricing in the customer’s own currency.

Steps

  1. 1

Write the need, not the solution

“See prices in my own currency” instead of “add a GBP toggle”.

  2. 2

Put every request under one need

Keep who asked and where they were in your product.

  3. 3

Count and look at who is asking

Ten requests from paying teams beat thirty from free trials. Note both.

How Bopmigo does this

Customers choose Request or Idea in the Feedback window. Bopmigo links requests that share a need, even with different examples, so the report shows how many people want the same thing.
